Who I Am
Hi, I’m Emily (she/her), a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in Los Angeles, CA.
What I Do
I believe that the most important factor of therapy is building a safe, trusting relationship full of empathy, honesty, and authenticity. My therapeutic method includes evidence-based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for ARFID (CBT-AR), as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and narrative therapy. I am HAES-aligned and take an inclusive, affirming approach to ensure every client feels safe. Prior to joining the EDTLA team, I worked in an outpatient setting with individuals, children, and families dealing with symptoms of depression, relationship issues, ADHD, trauma, and anxiety disorders.
More About Me
I received my MA in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. In my undergraduate and postgraduate time at the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of California, San Diego, I studied and conducted research in molecular biology and physiology. My previous work experience included extensive training in the clinical research and medical fields. These opportunities provided me with a unique perspective and understanding of the biological features of eating disorders. In my free time I love reading and writing, hiking around Southern California, traveling with friends and family, and trying new sports and hobbies (skiing being my most recent passion!).
How I Help
I employ a client-centered lens to help my clients feel empowered as they embark on their therapeutic journeys. My primary goal as a clinician is to create a warm, gently challenging space for clients to feel validated and explore maladaptive thought patterns and core beliefs. Treatment is focused on behavioral changes and cognitive reprocessing to create a freer relationship with food and eating, as well as restoring a loving relationship with the body.
