Who I Am
I’m Jamie Siegel (she/her). I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
What I Do
I am passionate about helping individuals build awareness of the thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors learned earlier in life. When you struggle with an eating disorder, you may feel lonely and it may be hard to open up to and trust another person. You likely have also received some conflicting messages about the way things “should” be, which can make it hard to trust yourself and your body.
I am here to help you embrace the “messy” and to remind you that perfection simply doesn’t exist. I will be right here with you as we explore what truly makes you you - the person you really are when you let go of the expectations of others and connect with your own values.
I consider myself to be an eclectic therapist with many influences including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, mindfulness, and somatic work. I strongly believe in the power of connection in the therapy room, so I approach sessions human to human with a strong relational focus.
I am a fierce advocate for equality in treatment for bodies of all shapes and sizes and am passionate about helping those who don’t fall into the stereotypical eating disorder “look” who may have felt dismissed because of the size of their bodies in other settings. I believe everyone deserves support and am here to walk alongside you as you discover what life can look like on the other side of an eating disorder.
My favorite quote comes from E.E. Cummings: “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” Healing, to me, doesn’t mean losing yourself; it means returning to who you always were before the world told you there was anything “wrong” with that. Together, we can work to unravel the toxic messages you may have received about what it means to be human so that it is safe for you to embrace the space you take up in the world.
More About Me
I received my Bachelor of Social Work degree from Florida State University and my Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University. I have worked with adults and college students on the outpatient level providing support for eating disorders/disordered eating, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and boundary-setting.
Prior to working as a therapist, I was a writer and singer, so I enjoy finding creative outlets in my free time. I am originally from New York, so I also spend my time looking for the best pizza and Chinese food in LA.
How I Help
I am here to help you tap into your intuition, question the beliefs that don’t feel like your own or that no longer serve you, and to help you cultivate self-compassion as you explore the possibility of a life in recovery.
